BEARD OF THE MONTH: BERKAN

There is just something about beards and bearded men. What is so special about them, you ask? The way they look is different, interesting and masculine. Ahh.. we love the charm the beard can add to a man and we want to share it. That’s why we want to introduce a new category on our blog called Beard of the Month, where we will introduce you to one awesome bearded man each month.

Meet Berkan

Berkan Miskin is a 24 year old estate agent, who lives in London. Berkan charmed us with his positive energy and a remarkable style. When we asked Berkan how he would describe himself, his answer was ”Hardworking, motivated and energetic”. We couldn’t agree more with this statement! Berkan is not a passive person, throughout our little chat we got to know that he also runs his own business in network marketing. He is full of ideas and he likes to take initiative.

Interesting fact: Berkan’s favourite hobby is ice skating and he learnt it all by himself!

Berkan and the Beard

What is the reason for growing a beard and how long have you had it?

I have been growing my beard since November in 2014. I didn’t grow it because of fashion. I just simply got bored of shaving and I thought that I would give it a try. The results were better than I was expecting. I received a lot of positive feedback from other people and I decided to keep it.

What is your favourite thing about your beard?

Without a beard I look like a baby (laughs). I also love styling it.

When did you start using beard grooming products?

After 3 months of growing my beard, it started to itch. One day I was at a business event and one gentleman suggested me to try using beard oil.

That was exactly what I did and actually, one of my first grooming products was from Mo Bro’s! After I started using beard oil, my itch stopped and it felt really good and refreshing.

What grooming products do you use the most?

Beard oil and a comb. I try to keep it look natural and rarely apply beard balm.

After I started using the beard oil I never stopped. It’s my favourite product and sometimes I even use it twice a day. I also blow dry my beard, but only after I apply the beard oil, to avoid hair damage.

What tips would you give for other bearded fellas?

Don’t ever shave! The first stages of growing a beard are the hardest. You might have doubts if the beard really fits you or not. Some people might not like your beard and say that it doesn’t suit you. My advice is to just let it grow and only after few months decide if it really suits you or not. A lot of men now are growing beards because of fashion and some of them will probably shave after it ends. I think that it’s something that you can keep for life and it does not only look good, but feels good.

Would you shave off your beard and what would it take?

Nothing. I would never shave it off. Unless it’s for health reasons, like if I would have an operation, or if there would be so many rashes that I couldn’t keep a beard anymore, then I would. But I don’t think that I would ever shave it. Now scientists have found that beards are actually very clean and the bacteria that lives in beards can be used to cure diseases.

Have you ever had a beard fail?

Yes. Once I went to get my beard fixed at the barbers and he cut one side too short! I couldn’t do anything, but wait for it to grow back a little and come back to fix it after a week.
